Curriculum

Curriculum, simply put, is the content of the instruction provided to students. The analysis of curriculum has become increasingly important in recent days due to the emphasis on standardized state wide tests (PSSA and Keystone) that leads to the evaluation of school districts, school buildings, teachers and students. The Pennsylvania Department of Education, by directive of the Pennsylvania Legislature, developed educational standards for districts to adopt and implement in preparation for the above mentioned tests. While these standards are not considered a “state curriculum”, they are integral for students success on the PSSA and Keystone Exams.

The professional staff of the Bentworth School District endeavors to make certain appropriate curriculum choices are made to prepare students for their futures and also to excel on the state wide tests. Curriculum planning is an on-going process involving teachers and administrators. Staff members from the Intermediate Unit #1 have been supporting the process as well. The school district intends to make curriculum review and assessment a regular process to make certain the curriculum remains current.

Specific curriculum initiatives will be added to this link on the website as they are developed to provide information to parents, students, and the community at large.
