Bentworth parents and community,

There is a lot of good news that has come out of our excitement this morning.  To begin, there was excellent communication between all first responders and the school district.  Real time information was communicated quickly and succinctly.  The sense of urgency continued within the district between administration, staff and specifically our outstanding transportation department.  A huge thank you goes out to our bus drivers for their flexibility this morning.  In addition to those previously mentioned, I want to thank YOU, the parents and community.  I know this morning had to be difficult for many and I want to personally thank you for your support and understanding of the situation.

The fire has been extinguished.  Based on information received, there was a fire on a valve located on the gas transmission line located on Johnston Road.  This line is in close proximity to Bentworth High School.  Firefighters, first responders and the gas company responded quickly and were able to extinguish the fire.  The situation is being monitored.    

At this time, Bentworth School District is scheduled to make today up on Monday, January 16, 2022.  Again, Monday, January 16 will be a school day for all students.
